Geneva - The Euro-Mediterranean for Human Rights Monitor launched on Saturday a page on its website to document the violations of the Israeli occupation forces targeting the Palestinian presence in the city of Jerusalem. These violations include arbitrary expulsion from Al-Aqsa Mosque, detention, demolition, colonization, and trying to create a new Israeli character for the holy city, besides raiding houses of Jerusalemites and tampering with their contents, as well as continuing house demolitions on the pretext of lack of building permits, in a grave violation of the legal status of the holy city and the rights of the Palestinian population.
The specialized page entitled "Palestinians in Jerusalem: Victims of Colonial Domination" will be continuously updated in order to reveal the documented violations of Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinians in Jerusalem on a semi-annual basis and in three languages (Arabic, English, French), The Euro-Med Monitor said.
The launch of the page came to shed light on the serious and continuing human rights violations by the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem, in contravention of Security Council and other United Nations bodies’ resolutions relating to the city, the Euro-Med Monitor added.
According to the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, the specialized Jerusalem page contains a number of interactive sections that provide new data, including images and texts, which enriches online content on human rights.
"We, as an international human rights monitor, are continuously monitoring the grave violations against Palestinians in Jerusalem," said ALAA AL-BARGOUTHI,Research and Development Officer at the Euro-Med. "The specialized page in Arabic, English and French is one of several tools used by the monitor's researchers in relation to Jerusalem, such as monthly, quarterly and annual reports documenting violations against Palestinians in Jerusalem, which the Euro-Med is working to bring to international and European institutions with competence to urge them to work to pressure the Israeli authorities to stop these violations."
"Israeli policies in the holy city, in all its forms, are racist against the Palestinians, aimed at displacing them, and violate their basic rights," he added. He pointed out that the practices of the Israeli occupation authorities arbitrarily violate the rights of the Palestinians, especially after the decision of US President Trump to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem, which led to giving the Israeli occupation a green light to increase violations in the holy city.”
The Euro-Med called on international and human rights organizations and activists to pay more attention to the violations against Palestinians in Jerusalem and to intensify human rights work to highlight the growing escalation of hostilities by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinians of Jerusalem.
