Palestinian Territories – We Are Not Numbers (WANN) has planted trees in the streets of Gaza City in cooperation with the Gaza City Municipality on International Volunteer Day to celebrate the occasion.
WANN’s team joined the Gaza municipality crews in planting dozens of tree seedlings on several streets in Gaza as part of collective efforts to save the environment and give a natural landscape to the city.
Our team members participate in such activities with the same passion as when they write to convey the reality of the tragic conditions of Palestinians to the outside world
Enas Ghannam, WANN’s Project Manager, said: “We attach special significance to community service volunteering activities. Our team members participate in such activities with the same passion as when they write to convey the reality of the tragic conditions of Palestinians to the outside world.”
A Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor project, WANN was founded in 2015 with a mission to “tell the human stories behind the numbers in the news” by pairing Palestinian youth with native-English writers from around the world who coach them on how to tell their personal narratives—and those of others—in a way that resonates with readers from other cultures.
