On 27 September, a Euro-Med Monitor  team met via video conference with Makarim Wibisono, the newly appointed UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).

The meeting focused on Euro-Med Monitor’s recently completed investigative reports on Israeli violations of human rights during its 50-day assault on the Gaza Strip. Wibisono expressed interest in working with Euro-Med Monitor to further document the Israeli violations.

Maha Hussaini, spokesperson for the organization, said that the Euro-Med Monitor team gave Wibisono an overview of its recently issued reports on indiscriminate attacks and the use of civilians as human shields.

"We presented testimonies and other evidence that prove that deliberate mass murder of civilians took place during ‘Operation Protective Edge,’ along with other violations of international law, “ she said.

The meeting took place by video conference since Israel has prevented Wibisono from entering Gaza.
